Hair

For some time I went to get me a haircut down in Kalerwe. That was a real interesting experience! The lady had never cut mzungu hair before, but she promised to try. The haircut took about 15 min, and cost me 6 NOK, and the result – well; okey! But I think I’ll wait 2 months till my next haircut (meaning, home in Norway).

Hair means a lot in Uganda. They can struggle to get food on the table and get their kids at school, but still they come with a new hair almost every month. Our priorities are very different!

This has also made it hard for us to learn the names on the children and the parents. You start by finding some marks you on them, and then the hair is usually a good thing since they have all kind of different hair. But then suddenly after a month you can’t recognise the child any more, because she has a new hair.
